Part-Time Worship Director

Position Summary

The Worship Director will be responsible for developing and leading vibrant worship services that enable those attending to worship and grow in their journey of knowing Jesus. This pastoral role will require a passionate and experienced individual who can continue to develop the worship team and design engaging worship services.

The church is located in Hagerstown, MD (western MD), roughly 10 minutes from both West Virginia and Pennsylvania.  Hagerstown is approximately 70 miles northwest of Baltimore and Washington, D.C., at the intersection of Interstates 81 and 70.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Worship Leadership:

    • Lead worship services, including selecting music, leading worship teams, and other special services/events, and preaching sermons as needed.

    • Recruit, audition, and develop vocalists and instrumentalists.

    • Lead weekly rehearsals to prepare the worship team.

    • Develop and maintain a worship style that is engaging and meaningful for the congregation. Ensure music lyrics, styles, and on-stage practices align with church doctrine.

    • Collaborate with other staff members to create a unified worship experience.

  • Audio and Visual:

    • Build relationships with the audio and visual team to help produce the best service.

    • Provide oversight and direction to the social media and livestream presence of Maranatha with the help of our Communications Assistant.

    • Oversee the technical aspects: sound, lighting, multimedia during services.

    • Oversee the audio/visual team regarding training/scheduling sound techs and computer operators.

    • Proficiency with ProPresenter/Planning Center, Computer/Media programs, and sound is preferred. A strong ability to increase the effectiveness of the camera, media & sound staff.

    • Other tasks as they arise

    • Attend weekly staff meetings

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in ministry or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Experience in worship leadership.

  • Musical ability, has led worship, and is a proven leader.

  • Strong leadership ability, excellent communication ability, effective interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.

  • A willingness to serve other areas as needed.

  • Teachable, dependable, and desire to continue developing ministry skills.

  • Passion for leading worship.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Commitment to the mission and vision of Maranatha and the values of the Charis Fellowship.

  • Willingness to come under the leadership of the Lead Pastor and Elders.

  • This is a 10-15-hour-a-week position.
